A trail through granite boulder formations at sunset, the Saddles 100 course

Course description

A single loop starting and finishing in Prescott, Arizona, linking together some of the area’s best singletrack through granite boulder-strewn terrain and ponderosa pine forest. The course direction alternates by year — 2026 runs clockwise. Fifty-mile entrants skip the Granite Dells section that full 100-mile runners tackle, a stretch of rounded granite outcrops among the pines characteristic of the Prescott high-desert landscape. The route draws from a network of well-established local trails around town rather than a single named trail system, giving the race a varied mix of technical rock, forest singletrack, and open ridgeline.

Elevation change

Approximately 12,867 feet of cumulative gain.

Aid stations

9 aid stations spaced around the 100-mile loop.

Special conditions & average temps

Early October in Prescott’s high desert (elevation around 5,300 feet in town) brings warm, sunny days and cold nights, typical of Arizona’s mountain country outside the low desert. The granite terrain can be technical underfoot, especially through the dells section, and the course’s single-loop format means runners see new terrain the entire way rather than repeating familiar ground.
